STUDENTS WILL EXAMINE ITEMS IN THEIR LIVES THAT USE ENERGY AND CLASSIFY THEM AS A NEED OR A WANT.

COMPLETE ONE OF THE FOLLOWING OPTIONS. EACH OPTION IS WORTH THE SAME NUMBER OF POINTS. YOU WILL ONLY BE ABLE TO SUBMIT WORK AND GET POINTS FOR ONE OPTION.

OPTION 1: Give up one device in your classroom
As a class, students will give up one item that uses energy in the classroom for an entire school day, and will reflect on the experience.

OPTION 2: Give up one device at home
Students will give up using one item that uses energy in their home for one day, and will reflect on the experience.

LEARNING OUTCOMES
By the end of this activity, students:

  • will understand the difference between a need and a want
  • will have explored and incorporated energy-reduction strategies in their lives
