STUDENTS WILL LOOK AT A VARIETY OF TRANSPORTATION METHODS AND EXPLORE THE ENERGY DEMANDS OF EACH.

COMPLETE ONE OF THE FOLLOWING OPTIONS. EACH OPTION IS WORTH THE SAME NUMBER OF POINTS. YOU WILL ONLY BE ABLE TO SUBMIT WORK AND GET POINTS FOR ONE OPTION.

OPTION 1: Calculate an energy-efficient route to Canadian Geographic headquarters
Students will investigate various forms of transportation used in Canada, select one method, and determine the most energy-efficient route from their hometown to Canadian Geographic’s head office (1155 Lola St., Ottawa).

OPTION 2: Design a new form of transportation and find its route to Canadian Geographic headquarters
Students will research emerging transportation and plan its route from their hometown to Canadian Geographic’s main office (1155 Lola St., Ottawa).

LEARNING OUTCOMES
By the end of this activity, students:

  •  will have discussed and planned alternative, more energy-efficient routes of travel
  • will have read a map and located Canadian Geographic’s main office
