The Classroom Energy Diet Challenge

Lesson Plan

Students will create a pledge form and encourage school and community members to support their efforts to reduce energy consumption within the Classroom Energy Diet Challenge.

Note: You do not need to upload proof for this challenge. To complete it, classrooms must activate their online pledge form and receive a minimum of 150 signatures. All signitures collected must be done electronically. The signatures from all Classroom Energy Diet Challenge pledge forms will be added up, and a total number will be displayed on the Challenge’s homepage.

Learning outcomes
By the end of this activity, students:

  • will understand the concept of a pledge and what it means to sign one
  • will have effectively conveyed a message to their community
