The Classroom Energy Diet Challenge

Lambeth Public School

The Grade 5 Hive

We collected a variety of old CDs and CD Roms from our family and friends, then painted the shiny side with flat black paint. We looked at a number of Mandela designs and created our own. We practised on a piece of recycled paper, then transferred the design onto the CD with our pencils. Using a scratching tool (reused wooden skewer), we scratched the black paint off the CD. The shiny silver sheen from the CD appeared. When the light reflects off the CD, we can see a rainbow of colours. Our artwork is displayed in the front showcase along with a title made of recycled paper.
