The Classroom Energy Diet Challenge

Errol Village P.S.

We talked about what kinds of things ended up in our garbage. We discussed the appropriate use of garbage compared to recycling what could be recycled come posting what could be composed it and taking home uneaten food. We have no composter at our school so even though we separated it out for our calculations the compost would've ended up in our garbage. We had a couple of kids who were leaving Uneaten food in the garbage and we seem to have corrected that in our second set of data. In math class we calculated how much garbage was produced per person in our class and then calculated how many kilograms of garbage each one of them would've produced in an entire school year, 13.7 kg. We discussed what would happen to that garbage and how difficult it is to get rid of garbage once we've generated it.
