Lesson Plan

STUDENTS WILL EXPLORE THE RECYCLING PROCESS AND TAKE A CLOSER LOOK AT PROGRAMS TO REDUCE THE AMOUNT OF WASTE IN THEIR SCHOOL OR COMMUNITIES.

COMPLETE ONE OF THE FOLLOWING OPTIONS. EACH OPTION IS WORTH THE SAME NUMBER OF POINTS. YOU WILL ONLY BE ABLE TO SUBMIT WORK AND GET POINTS FOR ONE OPTION.

OPTION 1: Host a swap meet
Students will explore the importance of reusing items as a means of reducing their waste by hosting a swap meet in their school or community.

OPTION 2: Learn about the recycling process of everyday items
Students will explore the recycling process of everyday items and create a poster that shows the steps and materials involved.


LEARNING OUTCOMES
By the end of this activity, students:

  • will have discussed the importance of reusing and recycling items
  • will understand the recycling process of at least one material (option 2)
