We are inviting all Canadians to take on this simple, spring-themed Citizen Challenge! Trees and plants clean our air, provide shelter for wildlife, provide medicinal ingredients and food, and help to regulate air temperature in cities. With this in mind, we’re encouraging Canadians to consider their spring gardening plans and channel their green thumbs.
Modeled after one of our 16 Classroom Energy Diet Challenge challenges—Get Growing—this challenge invites you to show us your gardens, big and small, indoor and outdoor!
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
This challenge can easily be completed from home. Pssst…it’s a chance to practice physical distancing while exercising your green thumb!
Are you currently starting seeds indoors which you’ll plant in your garden come growing season? Are you able to take cuttings from one of your house plants to start new plants? Do you have seeds sprouting on the countertop by the kitchen window? That’s all you need! Simply show us how you “Get Growing” in your home or garden.
HOW TO ENTER
To enter, take a picture of your plant or garden (include yourself if you like!) and share it with us along with a “Green Thumb” tip. Submit the picture and tip to email@example.com or leave a reply on our Citizen Challenge #2 social media posts on Twitter (@Energy_Lit) or Facebook (@CanGeoEdu) using #EnergyDietChallenge. Entries must be received before noon (EST) on Friday, April 17th, 2020.
