Citizen Challenge #4: Water Works!

Article by Can Geo Education

This challenge invites you to show us how you are saving water.

We are inviting all Canadians to take on this simple, water-themed Citizen Challenge! Canadians are among the top users of water per capita in the world, averaging 223 litres per day. With World Water Day on Monday March 22, 2021, we wanted to encourage all Canadians to think about ways they use water and how they can conserve it.

Modeled after one of our 17 Classroom Energy Diet Challenge challenges—Water Works—this challenge invites you to show us how you are saving water.

KEY DATES:

This challenge will run from Monday March 15, 2021 until noon (EST) on Friday March 19, 2021.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE:

This challenge can be easily completed from home. You are probably already doing things to save water, but if you’re not, maybe this is the chance to try something new. Do you turn off the tap while brushing your teeth? Do you choose to eat food that uses the least amount of water to produce? Do you collect rainwater or use cooking water to water plants?

  1. Think about what steps you are taking every day to save and conserve water.
  2. Share it with us!
Take a picture of how you are saving water (include yourself in the photo if you like!) and share it with us along with a tip to help others conserve water. Submit the picture and tip to [email protected] or leave a reply on our Citizen Challenge #4 social media posts on Twitter (@Energy_Lit or @CanGeoEdu) or Facebook and Instagram (@CanGeoEdu) using #EnergyDietChallenge. Entries must be received before noon (EST) on Friday, March 19, 2021.

WINNERS, PRIZES & ELIGIBILITY

A random draw will take place on the afternoon of Friday, March 19, 2021. The winner will receive a $100 Shell gift card. Prizes will be delivered via courier shortly after the prize draw.

To be eligible to compete in the Citizen Challenges, you must be a resident of Canada over the age of 18. Consult the Rules and Regulations prior to submitting.
