Protecting our land

In signing the landmark agreement, the government of Canada and the government of Nova Scotia agree to take the necessary steps to protect Sable Island under the Canada National Parks Act.

Sable Island is home to 400 wild horses and numerous bird species. It is also known as “”The Graveyard of the Atlantic”” because of the more than 350 shipwrecks recorded there since 1583.
