Take part in the Classroom Energy Diet Challenge
It’s a little surprising to me that more than two months of school have already passed, and I can only imagine how all the teachers are feeling with report cards just out the door or on the way! Teachers, because I know that you are very busy, please allow me to make your planning easier.
The finishing touches have been put on the Classroom Energy Diet Challenge and we are ready to go! We have mailed out information packages to schools and registration has begun. Although you won’t be able to see what the individual challenges entail until February 6, 2012, you can start to prepare your class to think about saving energy.
There are two streams to the Challenge: the Classroom Challenge, and a 60 second Video Contest. You are encouraged to participate in either or both streams, whatever works best for you. For more information on the requirements of each stream, please visit www.canadiangeographic.ca/cedc.
The best part is that if you participate, not only will you covering curriculum requirements, raising awareness about a very important cause and getting your students involved in a fun contest, we have more than $20,000 worth of prizes to give out!
So, what are you waiting for? Get involved! If you are a teacher, sign up! Tell friends and colleagues. If you aren’t a teacher but know a teacher, or know someone who knows someone who is a teacher, then let them know!
Keep your eyes open for an information package and a handy poster for the classroom that should be arriving at your school any day now and check out the CEDC website. If you have any questions, e-mail me ([email protected]gs.org). I’m more than happy to help and can’t wait to see how this challenge will unfold.
