I divided the class into groups to research the different sources of renewable power sources, and then they did a google slide on it and filled in the worksheet page. They then presented their google slides in class for our electricity unit.

We look at the video on Smart Mobility, and then we had a discussion. Each student then made a poster. I then took the posters and made them into a google slide show which I inserted into a WeVideo. I put the WeVideo on the school's Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/Vermilionelementary/posts/1955273377962379).

We took over the recycling of paper for our school. Each week three different students and the teacher took the paper out to the paper dumpster. We will continue this until the end of the year.

We discussed the difference between an energy need and an energy want. We all listed our energy usage on the worksheet, decided where each fit as a need or want, and then each student decided which want they would give up for the next day. After that day was done, we had a discussion about the experience.

We grew Parsley from seed. The students enjoyed watching it grow. They missed this process last year in grade 4 due to COVID. We will continue to grow it but decided we should send the challenge information now.

We did the following: 1) We went to this site -http://www.parkcitygreen.org/Calculators/Kids-Calculator.aspx and took the Carbon Footprint survey. 2) We completed the google form that Mr. Beecroft sent to us. 3) We had a discussion on how to lower our carbon footprint.

We watched some youtube videos about food waste. We then had a discussion about it, and what we personally could do to lessen it. As we went, we filled in our worksheets. We then had everyone add a word or a phrase to the charades' container. We then played a quick game of charades in our row groups.

We talked about ways we could keep stuff out of the trash by recycling and reusing. The students took the form home on Tuesday evening, and we calculated the information for the next 5 days. They brought the forms back on Monday.

We had a talk about how we waste water. We then looked at how we could save water. We decided we would use water like regular one day, and then try to use the ways we learned to save water the next day.
