Get Growing

Completed

Description

We have been growing plants in the classroom since the beginning of the year. We have observed plants and eve propagated various types of plants such as jade. We found some seeds outside that have already begun to germinate and have planted some inside the classroom. I also showed students the video at this website: https://a.plant-for-the-planet.org/trillion-trees/ We had great discussions about the symbiotic relationship between humans and plants. Students each chose a Canadian plant/tree and studied its lifecycle.

Description

Our class had a very good discussion about food wastage. From buying too many perishable items, to overeating, to forgetting to compost, there are lots of ways that we waste food! We had a good look at this website: https://en.reset.org/knowledge/global-food-waste-and-its-environmental-impact-09122018 and watched the embedded video.
