How Big Are Your Carbon Feet?

Completed

Description

Students used a carbon footprint calculator to see how big their family's carbon footprint is. Together as a class we came up with ideas of how we could all decrease our carbon footprint. We filled our "carbon feet" with the ideas we came up with, then we made a classroom pledge of one thing each of us was going to do right away to help conserve energy.

One Hour No Power

Completed

Description

For the 1.5 hours we had together (per class - I teach 2 grade 4 science classes), we engaged in activities that did not require power. We turned off the lights, I turned off my microphone, and we didn't use the smartboard or our personal devices.

Water Works

Completed

Description

Students watched a video on water waste. We completed the day one worksheet, then came up with ways we could reduce our water consumption over the weekend. On day 2 we watched a video for World Water Day, then completed day two and did the calculation to see how much water we were able to save by making small (and some big) changes.
