A Green-Powered Canada
We discussed ways of getting around our community and the Gaspe Coast. Then we looked at ways of transportation in cities. Students created posters to represent the different ways and then broke them down into those that were environmentally friendly vs those that were not.
Due to Covid and the restrictions that are placed in our community, the class decided to do a school initiative. They created little posters (in 3 languages) to hang in each classroom, reminding teachers and students to shut the lights off as well as computers that are not in use.
Do You Really Need It?
We had already studied photosynthesis at the beginning of the school year. For this challenge we reviewed it and started growing plants and separating/transplanting plants. We trimmed a plant and put the branches into water to grow new ones. They have started growing roots in water.
How Big Are Your Carbon Feet?
We looked at what a carbon footprint is. Each student compiled their own lists of factors that contribute to their carbon footprint. We looked at 2 different videos. Students were given a footprint and asked to write ways in which they could help reduce their own carbon footprint.
