Description

We did this challenge as a whole class. We discussed the various methods of transportations the children know. We discussed how vehicles create pollution and talked about various ways we could get from one point to another such as walking, skateboarding... that do not harm the Earth. The children also had loads of ideas to design vehicles that move using solar and wind power. We created a class word cloud with all their ideas.

Description

The children each planted peas in a cup. We also planted lettuce seeds. We also put the ends of lettuce in water to see what will happen. We also planted an avocado pit.

One Hour No Power

Description

We have been working towards the goal of 15h with out using power in the classroom. The children have been really excited about this challenge and we have notice and we can go a whole day with out using power. We have large windows that give us tones of light and we can even do some of our class work outdoors (reading, math games).

Description

We talked about ways that we can save energy at school. Our classroom has large windows and in the afternoon we don't even need to have out lights on as it is really bright. The children made posters to encourage other classroom to not use their lights when it is sunny and to remind them to turn them off when leaving the room.
