The class watched some video clips about Canada’s future with renewable energy. Students were split into groups of 2-3 and researched renewable energy sources. They completed your worksheets and made large posters that were displayed in the hallways at our school.

The class learned about transportation methods that are kinder to the environment. We watched some video clips and researched on the internet. The students then made PowerPoint presentations about smarter transportation methods.

We asked the Toronto Regional Conservation Authority to do a 2 part workshop with our class. The class researched energy saving initiatives and talked about walking or riding bikes to school. We received a air quality tester to lend and used it during drop off time and several hours later to note the difference in the air quality index. We examined lichen on trees using a kit they provided us with.

The class watched a video clip about the way we use energy at our homes. We had a class discussion about wants and needs. Then, students thought about how much time they used different things that require energy, talked about it with a partner, and completed the worksheet provided.

We watched some video clips about energy usage in Canada. I followed the lesson plan you kindly provided. Then, the students made Kahoots using the information they learned. They tested their classmates and it was a lot of fun!

Our class discussed plants and air quality. We watched a video clip on this as well. We talked about Photosynthesis and Carbon Offsetting. It was March when we started this, so students have indoor plants to make an indoor home garden.

The students used the calculators you provided to find their carbon footprint scores. They made posters displaying their footprints and including tips on how one can reduce their carbon footprints.

Our class learned using textbooks, wrote a short story and wrote a poem, and practiced skits. We used natural light during this time, no computers and no SmartBoard.

The class watched lots of videos about energy and renewable energy and together, we made a list of what our hopes are for the future. Following this, the students wrote letters to their future selves.

Our class watched several video clips about phantom energy. We looked around our classroom and noticed many things that were plugged in and not in use. The students were asked to draw maps of their bedrooms or class and label the phantom power sources.

As a class we discussed water usage and watched video clips. Each student kept track of their daily water usage over 2 days and we totaled the results.

We talked about food miles and how buying local is healthier and better for the planet. The class used on online tool to find local farms and other sources for every ingredient. https://ontariofresh.ca/search They made recipes using ingredients from these local sellers.
