Description

-We did research about what goes where (waste) -We had a kit from "Green Calgary". It had pictures of different items and we put them in the right "bins", like garbage, recycling and compost -We went to other classes and collected a sample of their garbage. -We sorted it and saw a recyclable paper in the garbage and paper in the recycling that could have been reused. We also saw food in the garbage. -We prepared presentations for each class -On Earth Day, we had a waste-free lunch initiative and went to every class to remind them

We used reusable paper for this: -First, we drew two columns: "Need" and "Want" -Then, we wrote down electronic items and classified them in"Need" or "Want" -After that, we pledged to give up one item for a day. We researched a food ingredient from farm to fork and then we researched how far it travelled to get to Alberta. We used a world map and yarn to mark the places where how far the ingredient came from. By Jalapeños Verdes

Description

The class had a "design challenge competition" and created wearable costumes out of recycled materials the students brought from home. Nothing was new except for the tape and the silicone they used to put their costumes together.
